Severn Celebrates Achievement in the Arts at Annual Awards Assembly
In recognition of Fine Arts Week, Severn held its annual Fine Arts Assembly, celebrating excellent work by Upper School students in the visual arts, music, and theater programs.
Rob Redei, Chair of the Upper School Arts, welcomed the Upper School students, faculty, and staff before sharing a recap of the excellent art work by students in the visual arts program and great musical and theatrical performances on stage.
Highlights include stage productions of Macbeth and Les Miserables, the annual Revels concert in December, the memory project, the and the annual juried Art Show. This year, Severn welcomed Sara Allen Pirgodich, a mixed media artist who is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Ceramics program at Anne Arundel Community College, to judge the student’s work. Numerous students earned awards in ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, graphic design, and photography.
The Best in Show honorees for the 2025-26 Art Show are:
1st Place – Clara Anderson ’26, Fragile
2nd Place – Lizzie Veiel ’26, Beach
3rd Place – Aiden Anderson ’27, Strawberry
During the assembly, representatives of several honor societies also announced the induction of new students while also recognizing current members. These included the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the National Arts Honor Society, and the International Thespian Society.
The highlight of the assembly is the announcement of the Arts Achievement and Senior Art Awards. This year’s award winners are:

The Two-Dimensional Arts Achievement Award – Abby Esposito ’27
The Jane Schwartz Memorial 2-Dimensional Art Award – Lizzie Veiel ’26
Digital Arts Achievement Award – Eloise Harley ’27
The Digital Arts Award – Nate Eakins ’26
Arts Achievement Award in Technical Theatre – Vivienne Tiller ’27
Arts Achievement Award in Theatre – Elizabeth Maltz ’27
The Performing Arts Award – Ethan Cooke ’26, Sofia Moss ’26
Arts Achievement Award in Vocal Music – Brett Paquin ’27
Arts Achievement Award in Instrumental Music – Nat Patty ’27, Claire Schinnerer ’27
The V Award in Instrumental Music – James Cravens ’26, Hadley Nicoll ’26
The V Award in Vocal Music – Fletcher Warner ’26, Caden Schnabel ’26
Renaissance Award (given in honor of long-time Severn teacher Doug Sassi) – Annie Campion ’26
Fine Arts Week at Severn School also includes the Upper School Spring Concert on April 23 and 7 p.m. in Price. The concert is the final performance of the 2025-26 school year for all of Severn’s performance groups.
