Sustaining Our Future

While the past two decades have seen extraordinary investment in Severn School’s infrastructure, endowment will sustain Severn School’s future. As endowment grows, Severn School will possess the resources to increase financial aid, control tuition increases, attract and retain the best and brightest faculty, and seize opportunities to enhance student-centric programs and services. In so doing, Severn School will maintain its stature as the premier pre-k through 12th-grade education in Anne Arundel County and an independent school leader in innovation.

The future of Severn School

Currently, Severn School’s endowment is over $11 million and provides in excess of $300k in annual revenue to the school. Severn School carefully invests and manages its endowed funds under the supervision of its Board of Trustees.

Based on spending limits established by the Board, a certain portion of the income generated by the endowment is spent to support the people and programs that differentiate the school from its peers and the remainder is reinvested to ensure the school’s financial stability for generations to come.

Gifts to the endowment provide critical financial aid support, faculty professional development, and student program enhancements.

The school has a number of named endowment funds. These named endowments provide the essential support that allows Severn School to attract and retain an outstanding and dynamic faculty, maintain the brightest and most diverse student body, and provide our students with unprecedented opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
