Today we’re re-launching the Severn Annual Fund as the Admiral Fund because through it all, supporting every admiral is our number one priority.

Making a space and place for every Admiral

Gifts to the Admiral Fund, large and small, make enhanced resources and programs possible. When you make your gift to the Admiral Fund you can dedicate your gift to the fine and performing arts, athletics, financial assistance for families in need, technology for hybrid learning, and more. The choice is up to you. 
 
The 20-21 Admiral Fund begins on July 1, 2020 and payments are due by June 30, 2021.

Family of Funds

To acknowledge the various interests of our donors, you can now choose to direct your Admiral Fund gift to one of the six Family of Funds most meaningful to you:

Area of Greatest Need: Includes critical areas of the School’s operating budget, including technology in the classrooms and professional development, and directly benefits our faculty, programs, and resources.

Athletics: Gifts support Severn Athletics, including equipment, supplies, coaches, and training that highlight the importance of integrity, sportsmanship and personal excellence in a competitive environment. 

Community Service: Through our community service program, we hope to instill in each of our students the lasting desire to serve others. Gifts support our service learning and community service initiatives.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Gifts support the ongoing work of ensuring that Severn is an inclusive community where each person is welcomed and affirmed. This includes resources for the libraries and curriculum, training for faculty and staff, financial aid, additional DEI staff, and community programming. 

Financial Assistance: Gifts support our commitment to enroll a talented, motivated and diverse student population, providing financial awards to deserving students who otherwise would not be able to attend due to financial reasons.

Fine Arts: Gifts support our programs in visual and performing arts, providing our faculty and students the range of opportunities that allows every talent to find a place for expression including sculpture, photography, theater, film, dance, chorus, band, orchestra, and more.

  • How can I help Severn with its Admiral Fund?

    You can make your gift today!  You can also volunteer to help call a few of your peers either from your own home or at a phonathon.
  • How is my gift to the Admiral Fund used?

    The Admiral Fund helps fund essentials within the daily operations of the school, including professional development, curriculum development, art supplies, technology, athletics, clubs & activities. These unrestricted gifts are applied wherever the need is greatest, and they are essential to the school’s excellence and financial strength. Your gift dollars are also available if unexpected opportunities arise...a trip to Nationals, iPads for faculty, etc.
  • Doesn’t tuition cover these expenses?

    Tuition revenue provides 90 percent of the school’s operating budget. Severn relies on endowment income, annual unrestricted giving, and other non-tuition revenue to help meet the cost of educating each student. An investment in the Admiral Fund ensures we are able to attract and retain the best faculty and students.
  • If I can only make a small gift, does it make an impact?

    YES, it certainly does! Your gift, combined with those from alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends, provides substantial support for the ongoing programmatic needs of the school.  Every gift is an expression of support for Severn, and every gift matters.
  • Why does my participation matter?

    Participation matters because many foundations only fund schools that demonstrate wide support by their own alumni and parents. Participation level is also a factor in a school’s bond rating. Your gift is a show of your commitment to the school and a sign of Severn’s strength.
  • Does the Admiral Fund campaign have a start and end date?

    The giving year begins anew on July 1 of every year and closes on the following June 30.
  • If I make a pledge now, when do I have to pay?

    You have until June 30 to fulfill your pledge. It is helpful to Severn if you make your commitment early in the fiscal year, even if you don’t pay until later.
  • How can I make a gift?

    There are many ways to give a gift…of cash, by credit card, securities, matching gift. You can mail a gift in an AF giving envelope, contact Nicolle Teixeira in the development office by email or (410.647.7701 x 2357) or give a gift online now.
  • Do you accept matching gifts?

    Having your gift matched by your employer is an easy way to double or sometimes triple your gift to Severn.  Check this database to see if your company will match your or your spouses gift.
