After School Program

Extra Time, After School

After School
The school day doesn't end when classes are over. For Middle School students that need supervision after school, our After School Program provides a safe, supervised space to do homework, read, participate in faculty-sponsored clubs and socialize with friends.
Teachers and administrators use after-school time for extra help, meetings, and administrative tasks therefore they are not available to supervise children after school ends at 3:00 p.m. for 6th graders, and 3:30 p.m. for 7th and 8th graders.

Unless a child is in the After School Program, or is in an activity supervised by a faculty or staff member, s/he must be picked up promptly after school. Students who are not picked up within 10 minutes of dismissal will be directed to the After School Program where they will be supervised. Severn School is not responsible for students who do not sign in at the After School Program or who are not in a supervised activity.

  • After School Program Details

    • The program is 5 days a week from 3 – 6 p.m.
    • Students report to the Bauer Dining Hall at dismissal and sign in. From here they may be granted permission to visit the library, see a teacher for extra help, go to a scheduled tutoring appointment, attend a faculty supervised club, music/voice lessons or visit the Learning Resource Center. Each day includes opportunities for other activities like indoor and outdoor games, ping pong, reading books, and crafts.
    • The program is not held on early dismissal days or during exams.
    • Students reporting to the Dining Hall will be given an opportunity to purchase snacks from the vending machines when they sign into the After School Program. Students may bring snacks with them to enjoy at this time as well.
    • While there is no fee for the Program this year, there will be a late charge for any pick-up after 6:00 p.m. The charge will be $25 for the first 15 minutes (6:00-6:15 p.m.) and an additional $25 after 6:15 p.m. Therefore, a late pick-up at 6:30 results in a $50.00 fee.
