Come Grow With Us

Student Life
A Severn education prioritizes the whole person - mind and body - which means each student is fully supported in all aspects of their growth and development.
No matter where they are in their Severn story, students have access to a wide array of services, resources and tools that fully support their academic and personal growth. In the Lower School, that might mean learning to adopt an "Admiral Attitude." In the Middle School it comes in the form of the purposeful support provided with the "Transition to Teel" program - a series of enrichment courses designed to assist with the unique challenges associated with being a new middle schooler. In the Upper School it means a College Counseling team is there to assist with finding the right fit school for you, and that good health and well-being are as important as academic achievement.

Additionally, Severn students benefit from a full community of support, to include Lower School learning specialists, Upper School deans, counselors, advisors, peer counselors, and coaches. They have access to the Learning Resource Center and special seminars that are focused with a unique focus each year.

Rowan, MS Student

School spirit is not always something you can see, but something you feel in every corner of campus. It comes down to the smallest acts, not big grand events like a speech; but rather, holding a door for another student, cheering on sports teams, or even grabbing chips for people in the lunch line who can't reach them.

Eating Well Leads to Doing Well

Dining
A nutritious diet supports a healthy body and healthy brain function throughout the day. On both our Teel and Chesapeake Campuses we offer meal options that appeal to young appetites while keeping health a priority. The right nutrition helps keep students feeling good and on track from  start to finish.

List of 3 items.

  • Early and Lower School

On our Chesapeake Campus (grades PS-5) Lunch Box provides lunch ordering options for students and faculty. Lunch Box offers an affordable variety of 60+ hot or cold menu combinations; including kid favorites: Mac & Cheese with Carrots, Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Fruit, and Grilled Chicken Pita. Whether your child prefers limited menu items or enjoys a wide range of options, Lunch Box provides a well-balanced school meal they are sure to enjoy.

Please visit www.lunchboxprogram.com for information on ordering as well as the current/upcoming month's menu.
  • Middle School

On our Teel Campus (grade 6-12) we offer students and faculty a variety of dining options each day in the Bauer Dining Hall, located within McCleary Student Center.

Vending machines offer healthy snack choices as well as non-soda drinking selections such as juice, water, and powerades. Brock & Company provides fresh food choices daily, with an awareness of nutrition and taste preferences that appeal to young people. Creative, palate pleasing meals that are nutritionally sound and encourage good eating habits are presented. The menu changes daily and includes such popular choices as the baked potato and salad bars, Atlantic salmon with herb roasted vegetables, meat lover's pizza, and homemade soups using seasonal ingredients.

Most students elect to establish a Severn Prepayment Account, an online prepayment service for students to use in the Bauer Dining Hall, the School Store, and the Admiral's Collection of spirit wear. Students simply key in a passcode on a keypad. This system speeds up serving lines and eliminates the need to send checks to school or worry about lost or forgotten lunch money. Parents can check their student’s current account balance 24/7, monitor the items their student has been purchasing, and receive email notifications by creating low balance settings.
