It's been a bustling fall at the Chesapeake Campus with incredible progress on the build and crews working days and weekends before the full onset of winter.
Thank you to our supporters who joined us in November for our first behind-the-scenes tour of the construction site. Led by Head of School Doug Lagarde and A.R. Marani Project Manager Scott Austin ‘97, attendees walked the site and got a first-hand look at the layout of the grounds, buildings, and plans. A highlight of the morning, attendees were able to walk up to the second level of the building for a birds-eye view of the future playground, library, and science terrace. The tour not only allowed us to thank you as donors, but provided the chance to bring many of the anticipated spaces, such as the dining hall, classrooms, theater, and multipurpose room, to life. Scott was also able to share the staggering amount of materials used in the build:
1,627cubic yards of concrete
42 tons of rebar
36,700 square feet of slab on grade
13,600 square feet of slab on deck
225 tons of structural steel
148 steel joists totaling 28 tons
165 pieces of composite deck and 404 pieces of roof deck
