The moves are the result of the IAAM conference realignment process, in which the team with the best league record and/or the winner of the postseason tournament is promoted. Under that same process, the team (or teams) with the worst league record is relegated.
After Severn’s girls’ teams posted strong performances this fall, all five were designated for promotion. The girls cross country, girls soccer, and field hockey teams will move into the A-Conference, with cross country and field hockey posting the best league records and girls soccer
securing the IAAM tournament championship through exceptional postseason play. The squad finished 5-1-1 in conference play, finishing just behind Mount de Sales, the team they eventually bested in a double OT thriller to secure the tournament win.
Girls tennis and volleyball are bumping up to the B-Conference after securing undefeated seasons and
postseason tournament wins. It’s notable that Severn’s volleyball program has been promoted after just one season of IAAM play. The squad competed at the club level for one year in 2024 before becoming a full varsity sport in 2025.
“The story of the fall was the unparalleled success of our female student-athletes,” said Severn Athletic Director Julian Domenech. “Across the board, they were dominant and we’re thrilled that they are being rewarded with the opportunity to compete at even higher levels next fall.”
In another indicator of the Admirals’ strong performance this fall, a total of 19 female student-athletes earned IAAM All-Conference honors. They include:
