Class of 2025 Leaves Legacy of Community Through Senior Gift

The Class of 2025 defined their legacy with a special parting gift to the school community.
This senior class donated four custom-built outdoor picnic tables, enhancing Severn’s campus with additional seating areas for students to gather and connect.

The inspiration for this gift came during a meeting with senior student leaders, who expressed a desire to give back and leave their mark in a tangible way. Led by Ella Foote, the senior class decided to address an issue they faced during earlier years at Severn -- limited outdoor seating during pleasant weather. By creating more spaces for students to meet, the Class of 2025 embraced the school's value of building community.

But they didn’t stop at just donating tables. To make the gift truly personal, students took part in building and staining the tables themselves, giving each piece a polished and lasting finish. Adding an even more personal touch, every senior left their handprint in white paint on the tables, signing their name by the print.

The four tables have been strategically placed around campus, with two located behind McCleary and two outside Creeden Commons. Additionally, a plaque on one table in each location dedicates the gift to the Class of 2025.

“This gift is special because it isn’t just about tables,” said Andrew Otero, Senior Class Dean. “It’s about creating spaces for current and future students to gather, connect and create memories of their time at Severn School that they will cherish just as much as our graduating seniors.”

The Class of 2025 has left a legacy that truly embodies the spirit of giving back. Their thoughtful contribution serves as both a practical enhancement and a cherished reminder of their positive and durable impact on the Severn School community.
