Counseling Department Parent Forum #1: Debbie Roffman Talks Sex

    Location: Woods Memorial Church
    Debbie Roffman Talks Sex: 10/1
8:15 am @ Woods Memorial Church
Deborah Roffman, sexuality educator and author of Talk to Me First: Everything You Need to Know to Become Your Kid’s Go-To Person about Sex.

If you missed Debbie Roffman’s January 2014 visit to Severn, definitely plan to attend this parent forum - ALL SEVERN PARENTS are encouraged to attend.

With humor and expertise, Ms. Roffman’s advice for parents will provide a common sense approach to speaking with children and adolescents about healthy sexuality and the importance of sexuality education.

If reviews from Ms. Roffman’s last Severn visit are any indication, parents will walk away from Ms. Roffman’s talk feeling empowered to engage in what may have previously felt like hard conversations.

This is a don’t-miss opportunity to learn from one of the best! Note: This forum may run longer than the typical one-hour time slot.  Click here to RSVP.

  • Finding Kind Assembly for 7th - 10th Grade Girls

    Location: Price Auditorium
As we well know, mean girl/female bullying behavior (gossiping, back stabbing, starting rumors, etc.) is an ongoing issue in middle and high schools across the nation. Relational aggression often goes undetected by adults, yet it can permeate all aspects of our female students’ lives. This dynamic morphs with each generation but the themes remain the same.

On Tuesday, 10/20, all girls in grades seven through 10 will have a girls-only assembly, presented by the Kind Campaign, to address this issue. The girls will screen the Finding Kind documentary and then have a discussion led by the organization’s founders, Lauren Paul and Molly Thompson. This is a remarkable opportunity that rarely comes around.
