WELCOME ADMIRAL FAMILIES

We are proud to have a vibrant parent association and welcome you to take an active role in our community! With over 125 events, receptions, meetings, programs, workshops, and parent gatherings each year, there’s something for everyone. Get involved to take advantage of the unique chance to build a strong network of friends and support our students and faculty. As a parent of a current Severn student, you are automatically a member of the Admirals Parent’s Association.

ADMIRALS PARENTS' ASSOCIATION (APA)

The Admirals Parents’ Association (APA) is dedicated to supporting the students, faculty and administration of Severn School. We strive to offer a variety of opportunities for parents to feel welcomed, informed, involved, and connected. You can learn about events and volunteer opportunities through the The Binnacle, the APA Resource Board, and at parent gatherings and meetings.

One of the premier events of the year that brings together parents from both the Chesapeake and Teel campuses is our annual Admiral Auction. Held in March each year, the auction is the one and only fundraiser that supports the programs of the APA and involves the entire parent community. In other instances, some of the work of the APA may be specific to campuses or grade levels. Regardless of the campus, every effort is made to inform and involve the entire Severn community from preschool through 12th grade.

Stay tuned for details for the 2024 APA Auction!

NEW PARENT PROGRAM
The APA welcomes all parents into our community and reaches out to our newest members regularly to ensure they are comfortable, informed, and active. All new parents are matched with a current parent ambassador who can answer any questions about day-to-day life at Severn; invited to join several ice-breakers throughout the year, including at our Welcome Back Bash and Admiral Auction; and provided with a New Parent bag chock full of everything you need to show your Admiral pride.

  • Chesapeake Campus

Home to our preschool through 5th graders, Chesapeake Campus parents are involved in both in-classroom activities and after-school events sponsored by the APA. Whether you enjoy being a room parent to directly help in your child’s classroom or prefer to be involved in after-school events such as the Fall Festival, Family Fun Night, Spring Dance, or Greens Workshop, the APA welcomes your ideas and time. In addition, parents serve as grade level representatives for each grade, taking on the responsibility of representing your class parents to the APA.
  • Teel Campus

On Teel Campus, which houses our middle and upper school students, parent involvement includes supporting programs to benefit our students and faculty as well as participating in parent community-building events. School supported events include an After-Prom party, Upper School Boardwalk Blast, Graduation reception, arts and music receptions, Middle School Social, MS Innovation Day, and more. Class Representatives serve as the liaisons between the parents in individual grades and the APA, and host numerous parent gatherings and social events to connect parents with each other.
