Upper School Student Athletes Celebrated at the Spring Athletic Awards Assembly

During this special event, each coach spoke briefly about the highlights of the spring season and then presented two individual athlete awards –the Player’s Award and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) – to team members.

Notable this season, Varsity Baseball clinched a spot in the playoffs with a 2-1 win over St. Paul’s and then defeated Gerstell 6-3 in the first round of MIAA B-Conference bracket play. They then fell to St. Mary’s and then Boys’ Latin, ending their playoff run.

Individual highlights from within the conference include FOGO and Penn State commit Reid Gills ’24 being named All-MIAA A-Conference and University of Louisville commit Issy Leach ’24 being named IAAM All-Conference.

Additionally, Maddie Ripley ’26 was named IAAM Athlete of the Week in early April after she helped the Admirals secure their first A Conference win of the season. Ripley collected three critical draws in the game against Mercy and then scored the winning goal in triple overtime.

The Player’s Award goes to the team member who demonstrated leadership, sportsmanship, team spirit, a selfless attitude, commitment, and a true love of the game. The team members vote on this award. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is selected by the coach and presented to the best player overall. Every student-athlete receives a certificate of recognition for their participation on a team during the spring season.
