After two years of an at-home event, featuring a virtual live auction, the APA Admiral Auction will be held in-person on March 3rd, 2023. The Admiral Auction, an annual Severn event, is a fundraiser that brings together the Severn community of parents, teachers, staff, and alumni in support of the APA and programs that enrich and expand every Admiral’s experience.
While Severn teachers strive to offer the best academic experience, the APA works to create the family that is Severn.
The theme for this year’s auction will be Out of This World, featuring futuristic details such as the Galaxy Bar, which will be serving the evening’s signature drink, the Flying Saucer. Guests will be able to listen to music at the Star Dust Stage, chat with friends in the Lunar Landing Lounge, grab a brew from the Neil & Buzz Beer Garden, and get a bite to eat in the Comet Café.
Deb Smith, Volunteer Liaison and Auction Coordinator, knows how much it means to the Severn community to be back in person for this year’s auction. “While we are thankful for all of the support for our last two virtual auctions, we couldn’t be more excited about being back in person this year and our ‘Out of This World’ theme and community,” said Smith. “A special thanks to our class basket coordinators, volunteer decorators, and APA leaders who are going out of their way to ensure an evening of fun, friendship and support for the APA and our students.”
Guests can expect a fun and full evening at the auction, which will be jam packed with food, friends, and of course bidding on exciting packages and experiences, donated by several generous sponsors, and Severn families and alumni. The evening will start with a new family welcome reception, where Severn families who are new to the auction will have the opportunity to meet auction volunteers, preview the room and items, check in early, and meet other new families. Guests will be greeted with a signature drink, check in for the auction, and at 7pm the party gets started with live music and the opening of the auction.
All auction offerings will open for bidding on Monday, February 27 online on Severn’s Bidpal. Guests can choose from a wide variety of packages and experiences, such as stays at vacation homes at the beach, spa days, and gift cards to various businesses. In addition, baskets donated by each Severn class will be up for grabs. A sneak peek of some of the baskets include a Hershey Park adventure day, an exclusive getaway to New York City, and a thrilling trip to the racetrack to speed around in a Porsche.
