A Celebration of Severn from One Generation to Another

Every year we welcome hundreds of grandparents, family members and friends to our school to share the Severn experience with the children in their lives. Students eagerly guide their grandfriends around campus, introduce them to their teachers, and share a bit of what life at Severn is like from day to day. We are grateful to our grandfriends for investing the time and resources necessary to visit and most of all, for taking an active part in shaping what it means to be an Admiral for every student.

A Tailored Education at Chesapeake Campus

Friday marked our best attendance yet for the Lower School morning of performances, tours, and classroom visits. Our preschool through fifth-grade students spread smiles, laughter and love, as they confidently performed in front of an audience of over 300.

As our lower schoolers took the stage, grandparents and friends waved in encouragement.
The show included a challenging repertoire of performances from every grade including a sneak preview of the 4th and 5th grade Renaissance Drama spring production of Mulan Jr. with “Keep 'Em Guessing.”

Even without costumes, our Renaissance crew transformed the stage!
Through age-appropriate activities, grandparents and friends participated in hands-on lessons that teach students how to think, how to collaborate effectively, how to engage with others, and how to take on meaningful challenges and learn from their mistakes. Through every interaction, the connection between our students and their families in the classroom strengthens the bonds of our community.

Working together!
"In order for our mission to be alive in the hearts and minds of our students every adult in the life of a child – teachers, parents, grandparents and friends – must uphold the tenants of our mission and make sure that both here at school and at home it guides our actions and relationships." – Headmaster Doug Lagarde
