Community & Character, Giving Back at Sarah's House

Community. Character. We live these words in action every day. Last Sunday, members of our football team spent the day at Sarah’s House, reaching out to the community, building character. Sarah's House is a supportive housing program offering emergency and transitional housing for homeless families in Anne Arundel County. It was a day of giving ... that ended up giving back. Updated 10/26

Our boys spent the day lending a hand, playing with the kids and serving residents, and were invited to share a meal and some conversation with the whole group. Through their service, our boys opened their hearts to those in need in our community and the impact on everyone was evident. Several boys asked if they could volunteer more often, bitten by that good-feeling bug that comes from helping others. It was a beautiful day.

Setting a fantastic example for the boys, our adult volunteer crew jumped in with both feet getting set up, helping in the kitchen and serving alongside the team. They had a great time playing with the little ones and infusing energy into the day.

A big shoutout and thank you to Severn sophomore, Owura Berko '19 for initiating and planning this event. It would not have been possible without his leadership and desire to serve our community.

A special thanks to Coach K, Mrs. Vanee Vines, Mr. Mike, Mrs. Sotiropoulos, and Mr. and Mrs. Berko for their spirited support of our boys and the residents at Sarah's House.
