On day one, athletes could be found braving the elements on the fields and trails, gearing up for their first matchups of the season. For the first time in recent memory, snow had to be cleared from the turf fields to make way for boys and girls lacrosse tryouts. Yet, the slush and cold couldn’t dampen the Admirals’ spirits. Their shouts and cheers echoed across Teel Campus, a testament to their passion for the game.
Teams that can’t get out on the field just yet due to the wintry conditions will continue to put in work indoors. These athletes are hard at work at the range, the batting cages, and in the weight room, ready to hit the ground running as soon as conditions allow.
The spring lineup at Severn includes baseball, golf, boys and girls lacrosse, sailing, boys tennis, and track & field. While lacrosse teams will host their home games on campus, other teams will compete at offsite locations. Here’s a look at the first home contests for each team:
Baseball – March 4 at 3:30 p.m. vs. Key School (Location: Kinder Park 5)
Golf – March 31 at 3 p.m. vs. John Carroll (Location: Chartwell Golf & Country Club)
Boys Lacrosse – March 13 at 4:15 p.m. vs. DeMatha Catholic HS
Girls Lacrosse – March 10 at 4 p.m. vs. Gerstell Academy
Boys Tennis – March 10 at 4 p.m. vs. Indian Creek School (Location: St. Andrew’s Swim & Tennis Club)
Track & Field – April 1 at 4 p.m. – Neutral site meet, hosted by Howard Community College
(NOTE: The Sailing schedule has yet to be announced.)
Middle School sports will also begin soon, with seventh and eighth grade students competing in baseball, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls tennis, and track & field.
