Executive Dysfunction in Middle and High School Students: What it Looks Like, What it Feels Like, and What Parents Can Do to Support their Children

Presenter: In addition to running a private practice in Annapolis, Dr. John Persampiere is the Associate Director of the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute as well as a faculty member in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Executive Functioning challenges are common among children and teens. These challenges may include difficulties with attention, organization, planning, and being impulsive. Further, children with executive functioning challenges may struggle to manage their emotions such as anxiety or stress. The purpose of this presentation is to help parents identify specific executive challenges and learn strategies for supporting their children at both home and school.
