LS: Open Doors (week of Nov. 1-5)

Open Doors is a program designed to engage Lower School students in lessons, activities, and conversations that promote inclusivity. This program, taught by Ms. Renee Spears, encourages students to reflect upon and celebrate our differences and our similarities. Students enjoy time together to openly discuss their thoughts and feelings as well as listen to the thoughts and feelings of others.

The upcoming session of Open Doors will take place during students' library times for the first week of November.

3rd-5th grade students:
All Because You Matter
by Tami Charles

In this class we will explore and acknowledge that all children, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, no matter where they come from, they matter. That the people that came before them, and the work they did to secure the life we have today, matter. Because of this our children must continue that same work and carry themselves with pride, even when they experience some moments where they are made to feel unimportant.

Preschool-2nd grade students:
You Matter
by Christian Robinson

In this class we will discuss that no matter your size, your interests, or where you live, we will explore and acknowledge
that we are all important and deserve to be loved and heard. What makes you feel like you matter? How do we show others that they matter? This is a great story with an incredible message!
