The AIMS Student Leadership Development Committee is pleased to present a full-day conference on Learnig to Lead, generously hosted by Severn School.
The committee’s premise is that anyone who works with students has the opportunity to teach leadership skills, and that techniques and best practices can be learned and used with a variety of age groups and in many different settings.
The program will offer a balance of small group discussions, a student panel, and a keynote address. We welcome teachers, administrators, and staff who work with children in kindergarten through grade 12.
Jen Lara, our keynote speaker, is a college professor and workshop leader based in Annapolis. She has taught at the pre-collegiate level in suburban Denver, the Navajo Nation, Quito, Ecuador, and in urban Baltimore. She has served on several national commissions. Jen's vast experience teaching leadership began in outdoor education with Outward Bound and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Her two over-arching interests, which draw all of her work together, are faculty engagement and leadership development.
