Seniors will take the College Work Readiness Assessment (CRWA), followed by a picnic.
The senior class will arrive on campus at 8:00a and enjoy coffee outside of the senior commons area in Creeden Hall.
At 8:15 the class will be split alphabetically and while half of the class is taking the CWRA, a cutting edge test that measures critical thinking skills rather than knowledge of subject areas, the other half will spend time meeting in a seminar talking about heading off to college.
Seniors in the past two years have found the CWRA to be a very interesting and engaging test that presents students with a variety of documents and asks them to analyze and synthesize the information to support their theses -- think of it as a lawyer needing to cull information to formulate a closing argument in a court case. The topics are timely and interesting and allow students to get a sense of how well prepared they are for the rigors of post-secondary education. Severn students have tested well in the past compared to students from other independent schools and colleges and universities nationwide.
At 12:45, the seniors and their advisors will meet on the Boone House lawn for a picnic, which allows the class and their advisors and faculty to come together once more before the frenetic pace of graduation activities begins.
