  • 7th Grade Field Trip to Tuckahoe State Park

    Dear parents,

We have been monitoring the weather all day and it doesn’t seem to be on our side. They are calling for rain and thunderstorms on the night of May 29th. While discussing the safety of the kids, we have decided to cancel the overnight portion of our Tuckahoe camping trip. We will still go and spend the day, but we will return to Severn instead of spending the night in tents.

The following changes will take place:
    • Students will not need an overnight pack
    • Students will not need sleeping bags
    • Students will only need to bring 1 lunch
    • We will return to Severn at around 7:45pm tomorrow Wednesday, May 29th
    • Classes for Thursday will go on as a regular school day

While the overnight portion of the trip is cancelled, we will make sure to provide the kids with a complete outdoor experience. We will do canoeing, fishing, and ropes course challenges. We will eat lunch as a group and have dinner in the campsite (hotdogs and s'mores!).

    Additional reminders:
    • Students need to arrive to Severn tomorrow morning at 7:30am
    • Students need to bring a water bottle for the day
    • Students need to bring 1 lunch
    • All nighttime and morning meds given to our nurse, Ms. Wienk, must be picked up by 6/4 or they will be discarded

Thank you for your flexibility and support as we try to make this day trip an exciting, fun, and memorable experience for our 7th graders.

    Diana Talbott
