LS: Open Doors

Open Doors is a program designed to educate students about diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging. It is geared toward fostering an appreciation of others. Open Doors teacher Mrs. Spears creates thoughtful lessons, incorporating a diverse selection of literature and resources, for students to openly discuss their thoughts in a safe environment. The lessons build character and integrity, and help students reach continuously to a better self. Students benefit from lessons on how to be a better friend, how to be respectful to everyone, and that empathy and compassion are good values.

All Lower School students participate in an Open Doors lesson each trimester with Mrs. Spears.  In addition, kindergarten through fifth grade students may attend an after school session each trimester.
