    LS: Open Doors

Open Doors is a program designed to engage kindergarten through fifth grade students in lessons, activities, and conversations that promote inclusivity. This program, taught by Renee Spears, encourages students to reflect upon and celebrate our differences and our similarities. Students enjoy time together to openly discuss their thoughts and feelings as well as listen to the thoughts and feelings of others.

    JANUARY 2020 session:
In our second session of Open Doors, students will ask themselves: How can we honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream for a more peaceful world? We will read Thank You, Omu! by Oge Mora. In this story, Omu cooks a big red stew for herself as an evening meal – but learns that this stew is a special gift to the community.

Preschool and prekindergarten students will also have the opportunity to enjoy a modified Open Doors session near this date.
