LS Instrumental Music Parent Coffee
Location: Chesapeake Campus Maker LabParents of students in grades 3-5 are invited to attend an informational meeting regarding instrumental music at the Lower School. Learn more about ensembles and private lessons from Director of Instrumental Ensembles Frank Donn and string ensemble director Ginger Hildebrand.

8th Grade Trip to Echo Hill
Severn School has planned a class trip at the Echo Hill Outdoor School in Worton, Maryland for the Class of 2023. The purpose of the three-day, two-night experience is to provide our eighth grade students with an educational opportunity in the outdoors. Classes at Echo Hill include exploration of the environment, swamp studies, night hike, orienteering, and group problem solving activities. This expedition is set for September 5 - September 7.Please view Binnacle for more details. -
College Night for Parents of Seniors
Severn's college counselors invite all parents of seniors to attend a brief presentation and question-and-answer session to learn more about the college selection/application process. This event is designed for parents, but seniors are certainly welcome. Roche Lecture Hall. -

APA Meeting, Teel Campus
Location: Koch Alumni RoomJoin fellow Severn parents as we kick off the year with our first Admiral Parents' Association Teel Campus meeting. Meet with Head of Schoo Doug Lagarde, hear plans for the year from committee chairs, learn about opportunities to be involved, and meet other Severn parents over coffee and lite fare. All are welcome to join and share ideas for the year ahead.
In consideration of our students and their efforts to arrive and park safely at school, please take advantage of the reserved parking in the lower lot of the gymnasium for this event or consider parking in areas off campus that are an easy walk to the school. We look forward to seeing you! -

MS Get Acquainted Day & Innovation Day
Location: McCleary CourtyardThe Middle School will be celebrating the great start of the school year with “Get Acquainted & Innovation Day” on Thursday, September 13. The APA and the Middle School Community Life Committee have teamed up to provide lunch and activities that will help our students better know one another and their teachers. Weather permitting, lunch (provided for all students) will take place on The Holtgrewe Court Yard, with Bauer Dining Hall serving as an alternative location.Read More >
We will be outside for some portion of the morning, so please make sure that your Middle Schooler has sunscreen and bug spray on, and that he/she bring a water bottle.
Middle School students are invited to “dress down” for the day and they will not need to bring a lunch. A reminder that the reach and stretch and other school dress code rules apply; all students should wear sneakers. -

LS Back to School Night
Location: Flinchum Gym, Chesapeake CampusWe look forward to seeing parents at the Lower School's Back to School Night on Thursday, September 13, beginning at 6:00pm! During this event, parents will have the opportunity to meet their child's teachers and learn about classroom routines and curriculum.
Following Back to School Night, parents are invited to stay and enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages while getting to know other parents, courtesy of the Lower School APA.Because parking on campus is limited, shuttle buses will run from the Jones Station Park and Ride from 5:30pm through the duration of the evening, including the parent social to follow. -

US Paying for College: Helpful Strategies for Parents
Location: Roche Lecture HallSevern invites parents to this special program where information designed to help understand the financial aid process and paying for college will be shared. A college financial advisor will walk us through how colleges assess a family’s financial need, and how colleges construct financial aid packages to meet that need. This is not a financial planning seminar, but rather an explanation of the nuts and bolts of applying for financial aid. Because the costs associated with higher education often require a long term plan, this event is open to all Upper School parents and we encourage any interested parties to attend.
