Partnership Program

Expanding Opportunities

Giving back is a way of life at Severn — it builds community, speaks to our values, and helps students discover what matters in the world. Through the Partnership Program, students, teachers, administrators, and donors work together to build a culture of gratitude that inspires our students to reach higher and do more.
The Partnership Program has been instrumental in helping clubs achieve their goals. As Vice President of Student Council, I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Partnership Program Committee and the various clubs at Severn, and I can't overstate the significance of the funding and its impact."

What is the Partnership Program?

Founded in the fall of 2019, the Partnership Program offers financial support to participating Upper School clubs, lessening the financial burden of club membership. This structured support empowers students to seek new experiences, develop valuable skills, and strive to make a difference while making meaningful connections with teachers, administrators, and donors.

How Does It Work?

In addition to financial support, students benefit from real-world experience in running a donor-supported program. They learn the importance of planning, goal setting, and relationship building when garnering philanthropic support.
  • Student club leaders determine funding needs based on their goals and initiatives for the year and submit a grant application.
  • The Partnership Program Committee, comprised of student council members, faculty, and administrators, reviews each application and allocates funds based on qualifying criteria.
  • To access the allocated funding, student groups are required to send thank you letters to past Admiral Fund donors.
  • After the funds are distributed, club members keep records on how funding is utilized and report on their progress at the end of the year.

Giving That Gives Back

Director of Development Shannon Howell and Major Gifts Director Maryetta Lynch work with donors who are interested in supporting students with gifts allocated exclusively to this program. After making a gift, donors receive thank you notes from students and an annual report on student initiatives the Partnership Program has supported in the past year. The financial support is invaluable, but the connection between students and donors brings this program to life.
