These are a Few of Our Favorite Things

The famous Rodgers and Hammerstein tune, "My Favorite Things," is a classic holiday song that reminds us of the little things that bring joy to our lives each day. And with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, exams, end of semester projects and more, it’s those little things that keep us going. At a time when everyone seems to be busier than they’d like, it’s important to slow down, gather as a community and celebrate what makes Severn School such a special place. Enjoy some of our favorite seasonal moments as we wave goodbye to 2018 and welcome the new year ahead!

Lower School Instrumental Concert

The Lower School string ensemble and band performed for parents and friends in our Louise Sivy Theater black box theater. Our talented third through fifth-grade musicians staged a wonderful program of songs they had worked on during the fall, including a few holiday classics.

Lower School Pajama Day and Caroling Assembly

Lower School students, faculty and staff skipped their regular morning routines to come to school in their PJs! After a morning of cozy pajama fun, every grade joined together to sing holiday favorites, dance, giggle, and wiggle their way toward winter break.

Middle School Winter Concert

Our Middle School artists shared their first-semester work with family and friends at this annual arts event. Lively performances included a Queen medley by the choir, a jazzy selection of tunes from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by the band, and to end the show, the Christmas Can-Can performed by the 8th-grade dance troupe!
Check out a few highlights from the show!

Upper School Revels

Chamber Music Ensemble, Concert Choir, Treble Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, and the Severn Jam Band showed off their musical chops at two Revels performances. After weeks of rehearsal, the groups performed an abbreviated show for the entire Upper School during the day followed by a full performance in the evening for family and friends. The shows included a mix of traditional holiday songs and more contemporary picks ranging from John Lennon's "Imagine" performed by the Concert Choir to Ray Charles's "What'd I Say?" performed by Instrumental Ensemble.

Enjoy this selection of songs from the daytime performance!
