A Fond Farewell to the Class of 2018!

The time has come again to wish a fond farewell to our graduating class. The past few weeks have been filled with happy tears, wistful smiles, and memories as our seniors looked back on their time at Severn School. Enjoy this photo recap of the last official days for the class of 2018!

Spring Athletic Awards Ceremony

Many of our graduating seniors were honored at the Spring Athletics Awards Assembly while parents and peers cheered them on. Good luck to all of our 2018 Admirals who are going on to play in college!

Academic Awards Assembly

Our class of 2018 seniors gathered with the entire Upper School one last time to honor the outstanding academic achievements of our student body. This marks the end of their academic years at Severn, but the beginning of a lifetime of success as they move onward and upward!

Independent Senior Projects

After spending two weeks off campus working on their Independent Senior Projects, our seniors returned for their final day at Severn to present their work to teachers and peers. From shadowing an emergency room anesthesiologist to working in a recording studio, these projects are a reflection of the breadth of passions for our class of 2018. Many said they found new interests through these projects they’d like to explore in college and beyond!

Class of 2018 Hug Line

It’s a tradition every year for all Upper School students and faculty to line up for a “hug line.” Our seniors walk through and say farewell to the friends and teachers they have grown so close with over the years.

Senior Fellows Presentations

Each year a select group of seniors chooses to transcend our academic curriculum and develop a year-long intellectual pursuit that reflects their growing passions through the Severn Fellows program. They presented their amazing work to an audience of families, teachers and peers.

Alumni Induction Ceremony and Dinner

Our senior class gathered for the Alumni Induction dinner to join the ranks of Severn Alumni, a network of support that they will carry throughout their lives. Alumni President Darshan Kharod '03 reminded students to "Just remember, pay it forward."

Baccalaureate

Held the night before graduation, our senior class Baccalaureate is an intimate celebration of our students’ talents and achievements. The evening was filled with emotion, nostalgia, and the unmistakable sense of camaraderie shared by every Severn Admiral. Family, faculty, and peers looked on as each senior was honored with touching (and sometimes hilarious!) anecdotes accompanied by outstanding musical performances.

Commencement

To the 104th graduating class from Head of School Lagarde (excerpted from his commencement remarks), "Seniors, in the world, you will meet many people who are smart and have great ideas.  However, what will be in short supply will be the resolve — the simple act of will — to get things done, to do good. You have shown us that you have the balance to be well and the ethic to do good. Make your experience here a touchstone as you engage with communities in which you will continue to learn, work and live."

Be well, do good, and come back to visit soon — you will always have a home at Severn School.
