Doug Mayer '00

Doug is a partner at Strategic Partners & Media, an award winning political and corporate strategic communications and advertising firm. He focuses on business development and expansion of the public affairs services offered by SPM. A veteran communicator with more than fifteen years of experience working in the political communications sector, Doug has closely served and advised three successful Republican governors. Most recently, he served as Communications Director to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and helped manage his historic 2018 re-election campaign. Prior to returning to his home state of Maryland in 2014, Doug spent two years as Communications Director for South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. A graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with dual degrees in political science and public policy, he also enjoyed four years on the varsity lacrosse team. Doug is proud to serve on the board of directors of Warrior Events, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. Doug resides in Annapolis, with his wife, Allison, and their two children, Ainsley and Doug Jr., “DJ”. They share their home with an English Bull Terrier named Rudy and a large cat named Rebel.
