Lower School Student Council representatives have chosen Friday, May 1, as Wacky Tacky Day! Wear your wackiest, tackiest outfit to your Zoom classes on Friday! Lots of different colors, mismatched patterns... the wackier, the better!

Location: ZoomWe will host a special evening session focused on the course selection and placement for students and parents new to Severn School on Monday, May 4th at 6:30 pm. This meeting will take place via Zoom. Please refer to a recent email to find the meeting link.This remote session will allow us to touch base with you and your son/daughter and to discuss the finer points of the freshman year course offerings and to explain how class placement works. We also will share insights regarding other aspects of student life in Severn’s Upper School. -

Location: Chesapeake CampusMr. Glasby and Mrs. Wild are gearing up for another exciting Field Day for our Lower School students!
Field Day for PK-2nd grade will be held on May 11 (rain date: May 18).
Field Day for grades 3-5 will be held on May 12 (rain date: May 19).
Both Field Days will take place from 1:15 to 2:30pm.We are in search of parent volunteers to help supervise the different stations and planned activities. All supplies and directions will be ready for you. Volunteers should check in at the front desk and then meet at the back field of the school by 12:45pm. If you are available to help, please email b.wild@severnschool.com for grades 3-5 and m.glasby@severnschool.com for PK through grade 2. Thanks so much. Looking forward to a great day again this year!

It's a Zoom Dance Party! Bring on your best dance moves in the first ever MS Virtual Dance party on Tuesday, May 12, from 1:35 - 2:00 p.m. Stay the whole time or pop in and out as we take a dance break from class. The Student Council has picked an amazing mix of popular songs and classic group dances (think YMCA) to get our toes tapping and blood pumping. Don't want to dance? That's ok---come zoom with us anyway and enjoy the music and moves by your classmates and teachers. All participants will be entered into a raffle for Chick-Fil-A gift cards and all Severn MS students are invited to join. The Zoom link will posted on the "Socials, Clubs and Competitions... REMOTE - MS New Student Information Session
Location: ZoomOn May 14th at 6:30 p.m. we will host a Zoom "town hall meeting" for new parents and students. This meeting will be hosted by Severn's Middle School Head, Dan Keller. You will receive instructions for the Zoom meeting on the morning of May 14th.
At this meeting we will go over specifics regarding gearing up for the 2020-21 school year at Severn. This will include class placement, mySevern tutorials, elective selection, and many other important topics. -

We are excited to share that Ali Clark Collins '95 will be leading a Zoom cooking class for Lower School students on Friday, May 15!Classes are offered by grade level. REMOTE: US Senior Parent Letting Go Gathering

Senior parents are invited to join Upper School Counselors, Sam Straub and Lilly Kane, for a conversation entitled “Letting Go.” Historically, this conversation has focused on common family issues during the exciting—and sometimes nostalgic time of transition from high school. This year, seniors and their families have an added layer of complexity to this transition, given all of the upheavals of the past couple months and all of the unknowns in the future. Thus, we have also invited David Brunk and Kim Coughlin, our college counselors, to be a part of this year’s conversation.To the extent Zoom will allow it, format for the event will be interactive. Please come to listen, learn, laugh, share, or ask questions. -

Location: Flinchum Gym, Chesapeake CampusMark your calendar for the Lower School Spring Sing, on Wednesday, May 20 at 8:30 am, and prepare to be treated to a wonderful event full of music and fun! Students in all grades will offer a selection of cheerful songs to celebrate the arrival of spring during this annual vocal concert performance for parents. The Lower School String Ensemble and Lower School Band will perform too!

CANCELLED - 6th Grade to Capital SUP

6th graders will enjoy a day outdoors at Capital SUP navigating the Chesapeake Bay waterways. In one rotation, students will learn about water safety and appropriate paddling technique while experienced instructors lead them on a kayaking or stand up paddle boarding tour. In another rotation, students will be able to monitor water quality and learn about oyster gardening, harvesting and recycling from experts at Oyster Recover Partnership.Please check Binnacle for more information. -
