    PS/PK contract extension date

We understand that as students blossom throughout the year, parents of students attending half-day become interested in having their children attend full-day. .Enrollment options for preschool students include: 5 half days, 5 full days, 3 half days, 3 full days, with students in the 3-day program attending school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

To support our teachers and parents in increasing students’ time and experiences and to appropriately staff our classrooms, we have three effective dates for contracts to be amended during the 2019-2020 school year: October 11, January 24, and March 13.

If you wish to explore enrollment options to extend half days to full days, please contact Director of Instructional Programs Sherri Hoyt at 410-647-7701 extension 2025.  After talking with Sherri Hoyt, parents will be directed to contact Cliff Clorety in our Lower School Business Office (410-647-7701 extension 2061) prior to each effective date. Location: Severn School Chesapeake Campus
A Severn School alive with preschool and elementary students is very different from the Severn we knew and loved. It's inspiring to see the evolution of the Severn of our memories into the Severn of today: Anne Arundel County's oldest and largest preschool - grade 12 independent day school. As local alumni, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to provide our children with the same extraordinary school environment we all enjoyed — beginning in their earliest days of school. LS: Open Doors

Open Doors is a program designed to engage kindergarten through fifth grade students in lessons, activities, and conversations that promote inclusivity. This program, taught by Renee Spears, encourages students to reflect upon and celebrate our differences and our similarities. Students enjoy time together to openly discuss their thoughts and feelings as well as listen to the thoughts and feelings of others.

    OCTOBER 2019 session:
In our first session of Open Doors, students will explore perseverance. This is the ability to keep going even when things seem too difficult.  We will read Emmanuel's Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, and we will discuss disabilities and perseverance. Emmanuel was born in West Africa with one deformed leg. Throughout his life, people often misjudged or dismissed him due to his disability. He would hop on one leg everywhere and still play active games like soccer. Emmanuel decided to share his powerful message with the world through bicycling. He proved not only to his village but to the world that "disability is not inability". He continues to work hard to achieve his dreams today.

Preschool and prekindergarten students will also have the opportunity to enjoy a modified Open Doors session near this date.

MS & US Half Day - Professional Development

12:00 - Dismissal for Middle School
12:15 pm – Dismissal for Upper School students and their Middle School siblings
    - If you are picking up an US student, please do not arrive before 12:15pm. Much of our congestion issues on these days occur because cars queue up on Maple Ave and Water Street long before dismissal time.
