Chess Tournament
Severn Scholastic Chess TournamentBegins at 8am and ends when the final checkmate happens around 6:30pm in the Edward St. John Athletic Center.Severn School hosts over 200 chess players from schools around the region for the tournament that kicks off the Chess Team's competitive season. -
Mainsheet Coffeehouse
US Faculty and students are invited to participate in the Mainsheet Coffeehouse. Come hear students read their own creative writing or favorite pieces from the masters. Coffee, tea, and treats are provided. Creeden Commons 7-9 pm -
US Parent Coffee (Class of 2023)
On December 4 we invite all 8th grade parents to enjoy coffee with Upper School Head Bea Fuller and Director of Studies Lise Charlier for a casual introduction to Severn's Upper School. They will give a brief overview of the Upper School program and be available for questions and answers. This will take place in the Koch Alumni Room of the Edward St. John Athletic Center at 8:15 am. -

Early School Mini Matisse Event
Location: Chesapeake CampusJoin us for one or both of our Mini Matisse workshops, designed to inspire creativity and a love of reading and art. Guided by our Lower School Media Specialist and Lower School Art Teacher, parents and children will enjoy a story from a popular early childhood author and explore the illustrations found in the literature. Tying picture books and the visual arts together, each child will leave with his/her own masterpiece inspired by the story.Read More >If you have friends, neighbors, or family members who may be interested in attending with their children, please encourage them to register! Younger siblings of current students are welcome, too. Registration is limited to 15 children (ages 2½ to 5) who are not currently enrolled at Severn. Parent attendance is required. -

US Revels Concert
Everyone's invited to an evening of Upper School music performances in celebration of the holiday season. Concert Choir, Instrumental Ensemble, and Vocal Ensemble are joined by faculty and student string and wind players and the Faculty Singers. There will be refreshments during intermission in the McCleary Gallery. Everyone is invited to attend! -
6th Grade Bowling Social
Location: Annapolis Bowling Alley6th grade Bowling Party at Annapolis Bowl (http://www.gobowlingannapolis.com/)Friday afternoon bowling party: we will depart campus around 2:30 using our activity busses. We plan to bowl beginning at 3. The cost is $9.00 per student (pizza slice, drink, shoe rental, and one game of bowling). We plan to be back at school around 5 (allowing for Annapolis/Route 50 traffic and leaving from Annapolis Bowl around 4:30). If you wish to pick up your student at the bowling alley in Annapolis that is fine. Please let us know and we will plan accordingly. -

MS Winter Concert

Executive Dysfunction in Middle and High School Students: What it Looks Like, What it Feels Like, and What Parents Can Do to Support their ChildrenPresenter: In addition to running a private practice in Annapolis, Dr. John Persampiere is the Associate Director of the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute as well as a faculty member in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Executive Functioning challenges are common among children and teens. These challenges may include difficulties with attention, organization, planning, and being impulsive. Further, children with executive functioning challenges may struggle to manage their emotions such as anxiety or stress. The purpose of this presentation is to help parents identify specific executive challenges and learn strategies for supporting their children at both home and school.
**Note: A similar event on the same topic will take place at on the Chesapeake Campus on January 25th, 8:25-9:25 am, geared specifically to parents of Lower School kids.Time: 8:15-9:15 A.M. Koch Alumni Room (ESJAC) -
