MS Coffeehouse
The Middle School Fall and Spring coffeehouses provide readers, writers and composers in grades 6-8 the opportunity to showcase their talents by sharing a variety of works including creative writing pieces, skits and musical performances. Students are encouraged to share pieces developed both inside and outside of school with the Severn community. The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is a United Nations–sanctioned international holiday for the promotion of diversity issues. It is currently held on May 21. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed this holiday due to UNESCO's Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity in November 2001. It was proclaimed by UN Resolution 57/249. -

On 23 May, Baha'is around the world will celebrate the 165th anniversary of the birth of the Baha'i Faith.The holy day marks the Declaration of the Bab, who in 1844 announced that He was a new divine Messenger, sent to herald a new age for humanity and to prepare the way for Baha'u'llah, the universal Messenger of God expected by people of all religions. -

Ascension of Bahá'u'lláh
Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh (May 28 or 29): Baha’is observe the anniversary of the death in exile of Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Baha’i Faith, on May 29, 1892, outside Akko (also known as Akka or Acre), in what is now northern Israel. It is one of the nine holy days of the year when work is suspended and children are exempted from attending school.
