Severn supports a dynamic life of activities and opportunities for engagement outside the classroom. Students can join any number of clubs or be involved with formal activities in areas of interest to them. All Upper Schoolers are encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities, both for enjoyment and to develop interests that will last through college and beyond.

  • Amnesty International

    Global organization focused on human rights.
  • Anchor Newspaper

    Online Upper School student newspaper. Visit The Anchor online.
  • Ancient World Club

    Celebrates the wonders of the ancient world. 
  • Archery Club

    Compete on Severn's Archery Team against other teams.
  • Art Club

    Artists of any talent level enjoy the Art Room.
  • Chess Club & Team

    Anyone can play; team competes in tourneys.
  • Community Service Committee

    Promotes and approves service opportunities for the Upper School community. They organize community service efforts for other clubs and work directly with local area nonprofits.

    • Giving Back Linda's Legacy backpack drive

    • Music for the Soul at Sunrise Assisted Living Community

    Severn's Upper School It's Academic Team competes in several quiz bowl competitions each year including oneTV episode. This year the taping will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018, to be aired on local Baltimore station, WJZ-TV.

  • Mainsheet Literary Magazine

    Upper School student literature and art magazine.
  • Math Team

    Team participates in regional competition.
  • Mock Trial

    Mock Trial provides students with the opportunity to explore the legal process and participate in simulated trials. Students receive a case from the Maryland State Bar Association's Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition, are assigned roles as attorneys or witnesses, and compete against other students from the state public, parochial, and independent schools.
  • Model U.N.

    Students role-play nations of the world.
  • Multicultural Alliance

    Discuss issues of diversity and inclusivity. 
  • Music Club

    Gather and play music together.
  • Outing Club

    Outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Peer Counselors

    Founded in 2013, the Red Cross Club grows every year. The club plans blood drives each year and encourages members of the Severn community to donate and/or volunteer.
