Our Lower School teachers carefully integrate technology into their lessons in order to build greater meaning for our students — it is one of many tools in their classroom toolkits.
Every grade level uses iPads for direct technology instruction and to enhance learning across disciplines. iPads can be a powerful tool for differentiation particularly for students who are still developing the fine motor skills needed to control a mouse and keyboard. The iPad’s visual, intuitive, touch interface is a great asset to our younger students. We also use desktop, laptop and Chromebook computers in grades K-5.
Our technology curriculum includes both device-specific and device-agnostic activities so our students learn how to use a variety of types of technology for a variety of purposes. Our goal is to teach the mindset needed to learn with technology rather than simply how to operate a specific program or device. Click here for our Lower School technology inventory.
