    There’s “snow” place like a book fair! This year’s book fair will be held during the first part of November in order to provide ample opportunity for a head start on holiday shopping! We continue our tradition of morning AND afternoon sales hours in order to make your holiday shopping even easier. Invite grandparents, friends, aunts, and uncles to stop by and purchase books - and we’ll have a terrific selection of stocking stuffers! Profits from the fair benefit the Lower School and Media Center.

    Red Cross Blood Drive in Memorial Gym from 8:00AM-1:30PM. Students who would like to schedule a donation can sign up during lunch from Monday October 28 through Friday November 1 OR see Mrs. Blanck.   • US & MS Grandfriends Day

    Location: McCleary Lobby
    Grandparents and Grandfriends of students in Grade 6 through 12 are invited to an inside look at the Severn experience. Please join your Middle or Upper School Severn student for classroom visits and Founder's Day Assembly. After the assembly, students are expected to return to class.

    Be sure to let your Severn student know you plan to participate. Convenient parking is available near the McCleary Student Center; however, if you require special assistance please let us know ahead of time. 

    We look forward to seeing you on November 8 at 7:30 am in the McCleary Student Center.

  • Founder's Day Assembly

  • US Spikeball/Movie Night Benefit

    Location: Roche
    SPIKEBALL and A MOVIE NIGHT to benefit the Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fund
    All upper school students are invited to attend the Movie Night and Spikeball Tournament Event this Friday November 8th from 5:15-8PM. This is an event that is cosponsored by the Film Club and the Surfrider Club. The event will begin with a brief Spikeball clinic at 5:15PM outside of Creeden Commons for any students who need to brush up on the rules of the game. The Spikeball tournament will begin promptly at 5:30PM and end by 6:15PM. To enter the Spikeball tournament, you need a team of two. There is a $3.00 entry fee per team. Teams do not need to register in advance. The movie Surfs Up will be shown in Roche Lecture Hall from 6:30-8PM. There is a $5.00 entry fee to watch the movie. There will be free snacks and popcorn available to eat while watching the movie. The wining Spikeball team will receive VIP seats, blankets, and snacks during the movie. All students should plan to be picked up by 8PM. All proceeds from the event will go to The National Association of the Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fund.   • LS Veterans Day Assembly

    Location: Chesapeake Campus Flinchum Gym
    The Lower School will commemorate Veterans Day with a special assembly on Monday, November 11. This assembly, scheduled for 8:45 am, will include presentations and musical performances featuring Lower School students in all grades. Lower School parents and guests are warmly invited to attend. We would especially like to invite and recognize parents, family members, and neighbors who have served our country. We hope to see you there!

    PARKING:  
    Parents may park in the school lot and diagonally along the front sidewalk.  We will open the back field if needed.
    DO NOT PARK on the residential side of Parrish Place.
    DO NOT PARK in the business park lot just south of our campus.

    Location: Library Forum
    The Middle School Fall and Spring coffeehouses provide readers, writers and composers in grades 6-8 the opportunity to showcase their talents by sharing a variety of works including creative writing pieces, skits and musical performances. Students are encouraged to share pieces developed both inside and outside of school with the Severn community. This event affords students the opportunity to be in the spotlight and to hone their public speaking skills. Refreshments are served and everyone’s welcome!

    LS: Just the Facts - Developing Multiplication Fact Fluency 11/14

    Location: Lower School Maker Lab
    Please join us for a hands-on session focused on multiplication fact fluency. In this informative parent session, LS Math Specialist Stacy Shaener will discuss the Five Fundamentals of fact fluency and will share strategies and games to help support students at home.   • MD Junior Classical League Certamen

    Location: Bauer Dining Hall, Language Classrooms
    The Severn chapter of the Junior Classical League is hosting a certamen for Maryland Latin students. At the certamen, students from all over the state will compete against each other in the areas of Latin grammar and vocabulary, as well as Roman history and myth. After participating in certamina for the last two years, Severn is very excited to be a host school for the first time. While the competition is limited to Latin students, spectators are welcome!

    The Middle School Spelling Bee will be held on November 26 to determine a school winner to represent Severn School at the county level. There will be 12 representatives competing, 4 students from each grade level who won their classroom spelling bees held previously during the year.  Please note, this is a student only event and will be held during the regular school day.
