Admiral Athletics Expanding for the 2024-25 School Year

Severn’s athletic line-up is expanding in two key ways for the 2024-25 school year, as Girls Volleyball has been added as a fall sport and the recent announcement that Football is moving up to the MIAA “B” Conference.
After earning back-to-back MIAA “C” Conference Championships, the Admirals Football team is moving up and will compete in the MIAA “B” Conference starting in 2024. The “B” Conference currently includes Concordia Prep, Archbishop Curley, St. Mary’s, John Carroll, Boys Latin, St. Paul’s and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Varsity Football Head Coach Demetrius Ballard is looking forward to the challenge. “The strength of our program is in our numbers and the overall support,” he said. “We’ve grown significantly in the past two years, including fielding a full JV squad this fall. It’s exciting to have so many student-athletes who want to play football and so much support from the Severn community.”

While moving up to B means tougher competition overall, Ballard and the coaching staff are staying focused on teaching the fundamentals and playing solid, competitive football. “This approach has worked well so far, and I think this team will just keep getting better because of it,” he added. Ballard is entering his third year at the helm of the football team.

Girls’ Volleyball will be in the fall lineup as a club sport in 2024, and will join the IAAM as a full Varsity sport beginning with the 2025-206 school year.
