Admiral TV Crew Spotlighted at Girls Varsity Soccer Game

Severn’s Admiral TV crew was highlighted during the IAAM (Interscholastic Association of Maryland) Character Coin presentation before the Varsity Girls Soccer match on October 18, adding a special twist to this celebrated recognition of good sportsmanship between member schools.
Breaking from tradition, the Maryvale Prep Coaches – Colin Devlin and Kait Manning – invited Mr. Jonathan Maggart, Admiral TV Advisor, and that day’s crew to join them on the sideline during pre-game warmups. While this award is usually given to a player or players, Coach Devlin announced that he was presenting the Admiral TV crew with the IAAM Character Coin in recognition of their hard work in preparing for and broadcasting each Varsity home game. Devlin explained that he even watches their film with the sound on – something he usually doesn’t do – because he enjoys their commentary so much.

The IAAM Character Coin represents the highest ideals of fair play, integrity, and respect between opposing members of the IAAM, which provides structure and support for female student-athletes at member schools. Admiral TV members who were running that day’s broadcast and were part of the presentation included Ben Campion ’24, Jack Read ’24, and Dominic Medile ’26.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team officially received the Character Coin from Maryvale Prep – along with Chick-Fil-A gift cards – but the coaching staff specifically wanted to spotlight Admiral TV and their contributions to the games all season long. “This is for the entire Admiral TV crew to share and to be proud of,” said Devlin.

At the beginning of the season, each IAAM varsity head coach is given two Character Coins, affording them two opportunities to present the coin to opponents who display notable acts of sportsmanship and respect for their opponents & the game.

Severn School is exceptionally proud of the entire Admiral TV crew and their dedication to running high-quality broadcasts of all Varsity home contests, which includes pre- and post-game work, play-by-play and color commentary from the broadcast booth, camera work and the overall tech expertise needed.

About Admiral TV
Admiral TV is a student-led production of Severn varsity sports teams’ home events that is streamed live and available on demand through the Admiral TV YouTube channel. During the broadcasts, students deliver commentary of the action while other students monitor the production and generate and update graphic overlays. While students are gaining hands-on training and experience, these high-quality broadcasts help to connect the larger Severn School community and showcase our student-athletes and entire athletics program. Admiral TV broadcasts can be found here.
