MS Community Day

What is Service?  Why is it important to serve others?

Those questions were the impetus behind re-shifting the focus of our “community day” (Nov. 10) to a day involving the whole middle school. The day focuses on student understanding of service and community building before they commit to the process.  Using thinking routines and a variety of engaging teaching strategies, the day’s program will discuss the role of altruism and service in students’ lives as well as provide deep reflection on the importance of service and community building.

Students will end the day making blankets for Sarah House’s, a supportive housing program offering emergency and transitional housing with an array of other services for homeless families in Anne Arundel County.

All academic classes will still occur on this day, and lunch will be provided by the APA. It will also be a Severn Pride dress down day—students may dress down if they are in their Severn gear.

We look forward to this engaging and enriching day for our middle school students.
