Early School's Mini Makers Make & Take Series: Exploring Engineering

Make a Connection, Make a Masterpiece, Make a Friend... Severn's Early School launches a new program designed to introduce children—ages 2½  to 5—and their parents to our Maker Movement.

Join us for one or all of our three-part Make and Take Series designed to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and collaborative investigation. Guided by Severn School preschool teachers, parents and children will spend each workshop in a hands-on exploration.

Friday, November 20: Exploring Engineering (10-11:00a)
Tinkering with simple materials can lead to big discoveries. How does that work? What can I make? Every child can be an engineer, you just have to try! Early problem-solving skills begin with lots of trial and error….you never know, you might make something new. In this session we will experiment with recycled materials and various connectors. See how everyday materials become tools to create masterpieces.

Friday, January 22: Marvelous Machines (10-11:00a)
Simple machines are all around us. Children enjoy exploring how ramps, wheels, and gears work. Come to play and investigate how much fun you can have with one or more simple machines in action.

Friday, April 22: Buildings and Bridges (10-11:00a)
From the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the dome of the Naval Academy Chapel, basic architectural fundamentals create our regional landscape. How much weight can a bridge hold? How tall can you make a tower? Join us as we explore principals of construction and build various structures.

Registration is limited to 15 children (ages 2 ½ to 5). REGISTER NOW!
