Greetings From Severn.

Here's What's Happening...
Brian Wood
National Lacrosse Hall of Famer and four-time NCAA All-American Brian Wood has accepted the head men’s lacrosse coaching position at Severn School. Brian, father of Beau '10 and Blake '12, will begin work with the program immediately in preparation for next year’s campaign.

A product of St. Mary's High School of Annapolis, Brian helped lead the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays to the NCAA Championship in 1984, 1985 and 1987 and Hopkins compiled a 47-6 record during his career. He earned First Team All-America honors in each of his last three seasons at Hopkins after taking second team honors as a freshman. Brian was inducted into the Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006, and will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in November. Brian was a member of the 1986 U.S. national team that captured the world championship and he has also coached the sport at several levels.

“We are thrilled to have Brian Wood take over our boys’ lacrosse program,” said Severn School Headmaster Doug Lagarde. “While his lacrosse success is that of legendary status, he is, more importantly, a great person who models the qualities we strive to teach our students.”

“Doug Lagarde, Severn’s new headmaster, had a lot to do with my decision,” reported Wood. “He understands the importance of being supportive from the top down while striving for academic and athletic success all at the same time. I would like Severn School to enjoy a reputation similar to Princeton University’s at the college level – a competitive lacrosse team that turns out great young men who go on to be positive influences in their communities.”
