Sailing Nationals, Middle School & Faculty Learn to Sail Days
by Anne Megargel
The sail team is headed to Austin, TX this weekend for high school Fleet Racing Nationals. Anyone who's interested in following the action from afar can check out sailgroove.org for  up-to-date coverage of the racing, including videos.
On Tuesday, May 10th the team is hosting Middle School Learn-to-Sail Day! 7th and 8th graders who are interested in sailing with the team in Upper School are invited to intend. The practice will be fun and casual and provide a glimpse of what the sailing team does on a day-to-day basis. Prizes will be awarded!
We will provide a bus after middle school practices that will leave at 3:45 from in front of Teel. Parents can pick up their children either at Magothy Marina at 5:30 or back at Severn at 5:45 and they can email me a.megargel@severnschool with any questions.
On Wednesday, May 11th the team is hosting Faculty Learn-to-Sail Day! Any and all Severn faculty and staff members are welcome to attend, regardless of previous sailing experience. You can come just to check out what goes on at a sailing practice or you can take out a boat on your own or with a Severn sailing "guide." Again, people can email me with questions. We will meet from 3:30-5:30 at Magothy Marina (360 Magothy Rd, Severna Park MD).
