In conjunction with our study of the diversity of living things, the 7th grade has been raising horseshoe crabs in the science classroom this year. The Department of Natural Resourses provided the horseshoe crab eggs and the equipment necessary to raise them. On Tuesday, May 17th the DNR is sponsoring a horseshoe crab release event at Sandy Point State Park, and we have been invited to take part in the event. Unfortunately, due to limited resources, they are only permitting us to bring approximately half of the 7th grade students.
Therefore, all interested and qualifying students had their names placed into a lottery. Every student that was selected has received an email inviting them to attend the field trip, and in the event that a student whose name was drawn cannot attend, we will go to our list of alternates. Alternates will be notified as vacancies become available, and we will do our best to provide advance notice. Those attending will be departing Severn at 8:45am and returning to school at approximately 2pm. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the field trip please contact Carrie Ball at firstname.lastname@example.org
