Fed Challenge Team Finishes at Nationals
Severn advanced to the finals of the national competition held in Washington, D.C. on Sunday by eliminating Choate Rosemary Hall of Wallingford, Connecticut. "We were one of three finalists that competed in the FOMC meeting room of the Federal Reserve on Monday," reported Advisor John Bodley.  The three finalists were the University School of Milwaukee, Severn School and Little Rock Central High School of Arkansas. The judges were two members of the FOMC: Governor Mishkin and President Poole. Little Rock Central High was declared the winner.

"Since we competed last, we were not permitted to see the other teams compete. However, speaking with spectators from other teams after the competition, it was evident that all three teams were in the mix. Before the judges rendered their decision, some told me it was between Severn and Central High and others told me it was between the University School and Severn. Regardless, the team felt very good about their performance. Their presentation was flawless and they distributed their answers to questions well during the question and answer period. If you see Kathy Little, Emily Viohl, Matt Quinn, Will Smith, Logan McNamara or Richard Welch please congratulate them for their hard work and outstanding performance. Fed Chairman Bernanke addressed the teams before the competition on Monday," concluded Mr. Bodley.
