4/27 Student-Directed One-Act Plays
7:00pm. Director Jenny Sledge '12 is doing an abridged version of The Importance of Being Earnest. Director Roxy Daneman '12 is staging Rapunzel: Uncut. There's no admission and everyone's invited. Price Auditorium.
 
4/28 Severn Dance Company Spring Concert
Everyone's invited to the show, beginning at 7p in Price Auditorium and concluding with a punch and cookies reception immediately following. Guests will enjoy choreography by Alison McCoun '12, the company president as well as Chloe Fu '13, the vice president and advisor Kimberly Kandra. Solos will be performed by Alison, Chloe and Lexi Kierstead '14. Other members of the company include Miranda Durner '14, Lizzie Purnell '15, Katherine Dean '13, and Paige Sachwitz '15.
 
5/1 Starry Night Art Show Opening Reception
6:00pm. Severn’s annual juried all Upper School art show will open with a dessert reception in the gallery of McCleary Student Center. All Upper School students were allowed to submit one piece of work in any one of 9 categories (ceramics, design, digital art, drawing, video, painting, photography, sculpture and other media). When the show opens, winners will have been chosen in each category by a jury of professional artists and educators including: Mr. Rick Malmgren, Professor of Visual Arts at Anne Arundel Community College; Mr. Will Scott, Head of Adult Programs at the National Gallery of Art; and Ms. Katie Morris, Professor of Art Education Maryland Institute and College of Art. The audience can join in the fun by voting for the Fan Favorite Award. The show will be on display through the second week of May.
 
5/1 Upper School Spring Concert
7:00pm. After enjoying the art opening, stroll on into Price Auditorium for this annual event, which includes performances by the Concert Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, and Chamber Strings Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Greg Bullen and Mr. Matt Haynor.

21st Annual Admiral's Cup Golf Outing: 5/17
Registration's open! Gather your foursome and register now for the 21st annual Admiral's Cup Golf Outing by downloading this form. The Thursday, May 17 event will be held at the gorgeous Queenstown Harbor on the River Course.
 
Always a sell-out, this popular event is open to everyone - parents, faculty, alums, and friends. This year we'll be on the scenic and challenging Queenstown Harbor Rivers Course, which reopened at the beginning of 2011 with extensive and exciting renovations. Holes #1, 2, and 5 were completely remodeled and all bunkering has also been renovated to create a windswept design that mimics the natural landscape of the site, optimizes shot values, and ensures superior conditioning. Lagarde '12 Awarded Scholarship for Scholars
Congratulations to Will Lagarde '12 who has been awarded the Trustees Scholarship in the amount of $6,000 from Scholarship for Scholars, Inc. a non-profit organization that annually awards scholarships to graduating students who reside in Anne Arundel County. The application process is competitive, and the awards, which range in amount from $2,000 to $7,000, are paid directly to the college or university of the student’s choice. Will and the other award winners will be guests of honor at the annual Scholarships for Scholars Awards Ceremony, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chesapeake Arts Center.

National Merit Finalists
The National Merit Scholarship Program has completed its review of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September, and Severn School is proud to announce that three members of the Class of 2012 have been honored as Finalists: Will Lagarde, Jai Lakhanpal, and Natalie Peelish.
 
These three will learn in the coming months whether they will be among approximately 8,400 Finalists selected as Merit Scholarship© winners. We congratulate them on their significant success and wish them well in the scholarship competition.
