Severn School’s Water Street Players proudly present the musical Bye Bye Birdie. February 23, 24, 25 @ 7:30p in Severn’s Price Auditorium. $10 for adults, $5 for students. Everyone’s invited.
This popular 1960 musical about rebel rock ‘n’ roll versus small town America wholesomeness features Conrad Birdie, who has been drafted to the army. As a farewell, the rock and roll star is scheduled to sing Albert Peterson's "One Last Kiss" and kiss a girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio live on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, Conrad's hip-thrusting makes more than one man in town uncomfortable, many of whom attempt to stop the show from happening. Meanwhile, Rosie wonders if Alfred, for whom she does everything, will ever leave his mother's shadow.
“Come back to the early sixties: and shake, rattle and roll those winter blues away!” encouraged Sharie Valerio, the show’s director.

"This is one of the most popular musical for high schools," continued Ms. Valerio, a celebrated Annapolis-area director. "It presents that time in history where the teenager evolved as an influence in the popular culture having money to spend and forming groups to support popular artists. It is a musical comedy which will shake off the winter blues taking us back to the early days of rock and roll with some popular familiar tunes as well. We are looking to share some fun!"
